A CRÍTICA DE HANS JONAS AO ENHANCEMENT HUMANO

In this essay, the author presents Hans Jonas’s critique of human enhancement, specifically in its version made possible by genetic manipulation. First, an analysis of the image of man is presented in order to serve as a basis for the critical consideration of Jonas. With this image of man at hands, which is characterized by the radical openness of the human being in relation to the world, it is then present how genetic manipulation – as a futuristic technique, but a possible one, – can lead to the disfiguration of the image of man, and, finally, why such an enterprise should be avoided, either in its merely utilitarian goals or even in its supposedly improvement goal, since it causes a definitive prefudice to human freedom, either in its existencial or its political meaning.
