The presuppositions of the affective structure of kinds of government in Hobbes concern the fundamental affects that determine human action since the state of nature, in particular fear, selfishness and glory. Fear, for Hobbes, is perhaps the affect that restricts natural freedom the most in the state of nature and, on the contrary, the main condition for obtaining peace in the civil state, but the hope of glory is as relevant as fear for the transformation of natural man in a social being and, subsequently, in a subject and a citizen.
