The manuscript Madrid, Bibl. del Escorial, h.II.1, ff. 1ra-73rb, contains a set of Questions on the Metaphysics I[A]-VI[E] of Aristotle, ascribed to Henry of Ghent in the inferior margin of f.1r by an addition that was classified as late by Martin Grabmann. Leaving aside methodologically the problem of the authorship of said Questions, here we try to understand the notion of ‘truth’ developed in the work, with an emphasis on the metaphysical discourse concerned with describing the ‘being’ one can attribute to truth. In order to do so, we consider the way the author of these questions establishes the relationship between ‘truth’ and ‘being’ in Questions on the Metaphysics II[α] and VI[E], giving special attention to the attribution of a ‘diminished being’ to true knowledge.
