This paper analyzes the influence of Rousseau's philosophy on the development of Kant’s thought regarding the issue of the conflict between nature and culture. It is argued that Kant overcomes what he considers to be the paradoxes in Rousseau's thought by introducing a teleological theory within the context of the historical development of perfectibility.
