As ambivalências de um projeto de democratização radical a partir da teoria habermasiana da esfera pública

This paper understands that the crises of democracy unfold the complexity of challenges posed to the democratic rule of law regarding both emancipatory and regressive aspects of liberal democracies, conceived as ambivalences. Our hypothesis considers ambivalences as a product of inner and outer tensions of the democratic rule of law which tend to deepen due to the new technologies of communication and information. Thus, we question to what extent a “new structural transformation of the public sphere” is related to the phenomena of political regression. For this purpose, we take as our main reference Habermas’ work in its late version.
