Diálogos entre Benjamin e Brecht:: o caso da peça Um homem é um homem

Deriving its considerations from a study of Brecht's play "A Man's a Man", this paper aims at posing core aspects of the Benjaminian relation between formal experiments and political engagement found in Brecht's epic theatre, which he himself considered a "materialistic theatre". From an analysis of the work's materiality, we will seek to understand the focus of the Benjaminian reading of the play in the light of his diagnosis towards the transformation of perception, the decline of experience (Erfahrung) and that of the art of storytelling within modernity. We will also try to actively identify in the context of Benjamin's interpretation of the epic theatre his process of creating crucial concepts for his historical critical theory, such as the notions of "interruption" and "dialectics at a standstill" (Dialektik im Stillstand).
