The Renaissance is, among many other things, the rediscovery of Infnity. At the center of this debate, in the 16th century, is the philosopher and wizard Giordano Bruno. But right after, in the following century, the astronomer Johannes Kepler will refute the Renaissance notion of infnity, based on the assumptions of the nascent empirical science. This article seeks to establish an approximation of Spinoza’s idea of Infnity in act to the frst and to distance Spinoza’s notion from the second. Approximation and distance here indicate the diference between conceiving or imagining the Infnite. Under this diference, it is the theological assumptions that haunt Bruno and Kepler’s thoughts as an underlying ghost.
