O MATERIALISMO E O DESTINO DA FILOSOFIA NO SÉCULO XIX

In the mid XIX century, a general mistrust is established towards the rights of philosophy. This mistruts was caused, in a large extent, by the modification in the concept of Science, which changes from a Science of axiomatic principles to an experimental Science. This new conception of scientificity evokes the withdrawal of especulation in concurrence to an appreciation of the inductivism, an inclication that will acquire its doctrinal expression with the materialism of the natural sciences, a vision of the world profoundly antagonic to the philosophical perspective.
