The main objective of this work is to understand and analyze the notion of "Civil Society" addressed by the French philosopher Michel Foucault in the course Birth of biopolitics: Course at the Collége de France (1978-1979), where Foucault proposes the analysis of theorists to do liberalism. Specially, specifically as the last two classes of the Birth of Biopolitics course, which brings an analysis of the idea of Homo oeconomicus, as a "subject of interest" distinct from the "subject of law", and the notion of civil society, correlative of the liberal technology of government. As opposing ideas in classical liberal thought, civil society models the State in negative terms, as nature does to the artificial, or the spontaneous to the forced.
