Os Fundamentos da Ética da Terra e o Problema do Ecofascismo

We intend to present here the foundations of Land Ethic, as defended by Leopold and Callicott, and how Land Ethic can deal with the problem of ecofascism. Our discussion will be divided into three moments. At first, we will explain the evolutionary assumptions that support the Land Ethic, more specifically, the thesis that morality has its origin in the way in which we, social mammals, adapted and evolved. In the second moment, we will discuss the foundations of the normative theory of Land Ethic, in particular, the intrinsic value of the Land and the holistic character of the theory. Finally, we will address the practical implications of Land Ethic, focusing on the ecofascism objection.
