PASCAL É UM PRÉ-KANTIANO? Notas sobre o pensamento trágico e sobre o problema da totalidade em Pascal e em Kant a partir dos caminhos da conversão

In this article I intend to explore the interpretation that Pascal’s Thoughts and Kant’s critical philosophy express a tragic vision of the world, which is described in terms of a rupture between the finitude of the human condition and the totality of nature and the world. Besides, in the case of Pascal and Kant it is possible to associate the consolidation of a tragic vision with a process of conversion, which, despite its religious connotations, assumes the meaning of a change of orientation and interest in the object of their philosophies. This interpretation is developed by comparing fragment 72 of Thoughts with certain passages from Critique of Pure Reason. Finally, I present the general outlines of the role played by anthropology in the thinking of both authors and point out some limitations of this comparison.
