Verdade e infortúnio na tragédia de Aristóteles: uma defesa da poesia

In Aristotle’s thought, the relation between tragedy and truth is especially shown in Poetics, chapter IX, by the notion of “similarity” (kata to eikon). For the philosopher, poetry refers, first and foremost, to what “seems to be true”, whether or not the objective truth of facts. Without disregarding the meaning and importance of the “similarity” for Aristotle, we propose, in this article, to think the meaning of the truth in the tragedy from the notion of “nature” (physis), which appears in Poetics, chapter IV and VII, and which comprises the conception of “art” (tékhnê).
