This essay presents a set of hypotheses towards a semiotic conception of the philosophy of literature. In the first part, after describing the aesthetic conception of literature, I argue in favor of its dissolution into a broader semiotic horizon of understanding of the thoughtlanguage-world relationship, from which a philosophy of literature has to be conceived as a philosophy of discourse. In the second part, after showing that literature is an open and analogical polysemic concept, I briefly expose how the genesis of this concept goes beyond the traditional aesthetic model. In the third part, I show how the polysemy of literature concept can be approached in a non-circular way starting from the analysis of the concept of literary. As a possible aspect of any discourse, on the one hand, the literary as narration reveals itself more basic than asserting, and on the other, should be seen as the singling of discourse, relating it to the concepts of performance, semantic change and linguistic creativity.
